Premiering on Discovery HD World, Trashopolis is a five-part documentary series that digs up the unexplored history of the world's greatest cities in an effort to better understand what made them the way that they are today.
For the promo campaign, an abstract sculpture was created using actual trash sourced from the five featured cities – Cairo, London, New York, Paris and Rome.
When lit, the artistic intent was for the sculpture to cast an unexpected composite skyline shadow of the cities' most recognizable icons: the Great Pyramids, the Elizabeth Tower (aka Big Ben), the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and the Colosseum.
From waste to wonder, the sculpture was filmed before it toured the Discovery Networks offices around the Asia-Pacific region as an installation artwork.
